THE FOGHORN, THE ADORABLE ONE AND THE BEFUDDLED OLD MAN

THE FOGHORN, THE ADORABLE ONE, AND THE BEFUDDLED OLD MAN.

In this very amusing sequence from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes we have three very unique, talented and interesting players interacting for comic results. First we have "the adorable one," Marilyn Monroe, doing her "dumb" perky bit with skillful shrewdness; then little George "Foghorn" Winslow whose deep voice and deadpan delivery was always hilarious; and finally, the ever-befuddled Charles Coburn, a wonderful actor who was at home in comedy as he was in drama (In This Our Life, among many, many others). What an amazing trio!

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is one of my all-time favorite films. The Adorable One at her champagne-sparkling best, ably assisted by Jane Russell who Eve Ardens for MM very nicely. Coburn is brilliant as Piggy (as memorable as Bette's lascivious uncle in In This Our Life, love that one too). That gravelly voiced Winslow kid is unforgettable, too...Mr. Henry Spofford III indeed...

I'm glad we both appreciate this because I put this clip on Facebook too where it got virtually no reaction from my Facebook "friends," even the ones who like old movies, LOL!

I'm going to leave my own comment on this clip on Facebook tonight and see if it will get any more notice!
